Officially Chromebox is designed for 1080p (1920x1080 pixels) resolutions only.
However, some of our customers tried loading 4K static image on their 4K screen and reported to be working accordingly. We have tested 4K static images to work just fine but when it comes to playing a 4K video the performance is not acceptable. Due to performance issue with video, we don't claim that chromebox is 4K compliant.
